Rudolf Lingens: "All that is solid melts into air."

This exhibition presents an immersive installation of recent and new works by Rudolf Lingens in his first solo exhibition.

Lingens' work is animated by expressionistic and philosophical explorations of the contingency of objects and experiences in flux between desire and occupation.

Denise Driscoll: "Geometries of Inner Space"

In my paintings, complexity grows from a simple set of rules where the whole becomes more than the sum of its parts. Colors are layered, and marks gather over repeating patterns of circles and squares.

Housatonic Museum of Art presents

Steve McCurry: INDIA

Steve McCurry: India features forty-four incredible photographs that capture the vibrant color and chaos of this ancient country, providing a stunning backdrop for the ordinary people who live and work in an extraordinary place.  The exhibit begins Thursday, January 12 and continues through February 10, 2017. All are welcome and encouraged to visit.

Best known for his iconic ‘Afghan Girl’ image that graced the cover of National Geographic over 30 years ago, McCurry stands as one of the most important voices in contemporary photography.  With scores of magazine and book covers, over a dozen books, and countless exhibitions around the world to his name, McCurry recently turned to India for inspiration. He says, “I was looking for street scenes, images that show the economy, recreation, and religion—pictures that address the key elements of a place and, at the same time, are interesting in their own right.”

Luck plays a role in each life, whether a person believes in the concept or simply wishes a colloquial "Good luck!" to a friend. This concept is instilled in numerous cultures and manifests itself in superstitions, myths, and rituals. Luck of the Draw invites artists in any media to submit work that explores the theory of luck, investigates happenstance, or portrays this abstract concept.
