AN ART TELL ALL
WESTVILLE NEW HAVEN, September 9th – October 17th, 2021: Kehler Liddell Gallery presents: Exposed Secrets, by Marjorie Gillette Wolfe, and Secrets Exposed, by Kate Henderson.
The latest from Marjorie Gillette Wolfe - a combination of both photographs and drawings - grew out of the last year of isolation. The artist identifies the last solitary year as providing an “opportunity to explore my photo files … Included in this exhibit are images I exposed, but have not shown in a themed exhibit. Simply composed, they show a variety of my favorite subjects and introduce several new ones. And yes, I also draw.”
On the other side of the gallery, Kate Henderson presents a different kind of revelation. The artist states: “In this body of work, I am exposing both how I work, and the underlying themes of my work, that I have not revealed before. My work frequently starts with a symbolic pentimento (the presence or emergence of earlier images, forms or strokes that have been changed and painted over).”
In an effort to limit group attendance numbers for safety reasons, several receptions and events are planned. Masks are required for all, regardless of vaccination status. The events are as follows:
Opening Receptions:
• Thursday, September 9th, 4:30–6:30pm
• Sunday, September 12th,1:30–3:30pm

The show can be seen here.
My paintings are a recording of people today, living in our world, experiencing our culture and lifestyles common to us. Painted over a period of months, the canvases evolve much on their own. As an artist I find it compelling to create compositions of human society.

SIGNAL AN INTERNATIONAL CALL FOR WORKS FEATURING SYMBOLS, SIGNS, ICONS, INDICES, & NUMERALS DEADLINE EXTENDED: SEPTEMBER 19, 2021 Signs, symbols, icons, indices, numerals, and other such forms of communication operate at an almost subliminal level in our society today, including in the form of these very words you read. We take their nature, their existence even, for granted. It is this that gives them their power, their potency as aspects of the human exchange of knowledge, ideas, expression, and energy. With this in mind we offer this call to artists for their works that feature or explore signs, symbols, icons, indices, numerals, and other semiotic phenomenon in some way. All manner of interpretations, explorations, and machinations involving the concept are welcome, including traditional and non-traditional approaches in any media. The inclusion of the subject of 'signs, etc.' may be overt and specifically about the concept, or subtle and circumstantial. Entry Deadline: September 19, 2021 For complete details and to apply online visit: http://www.manifestgallery.org/signal
