Silver Circle Gallery Presents:
NEW EXHIBIT
NO RULES: A COLLABORATIVE SHOW WITH WORKS BY JEAN-PAUL JACQUET AND BUD COOK

The Silver Circle Gallery is proud to announce the upcoming exhibit No Rules: A Collaborative Show with Works by Jean-Paul Jacquet and Bud Cook. Both talented painters in their own right, JP and Bud have combined creative forces and pushed the envelope in a show that conceptually redefines the individual creative process through artistic collaboration.

The concept was simple: each artist would generate a painting based on musical inspiration that would be handed to the other to freely interpret and develop over the existing painting. Both JP and Bud knew from the beginning that the idea of letting another alter personal work would present many challenges. They so agreed that the only rule from the beginning was that there were no rules. As the project evolved, so did the process and theme.  As new pieces were started, the theme widened to be based on a 'moment of inspiration', rather than being confined to only music - so literature, photography, films or real-life experiences served as the muse. A conversation developed between the artists as they shared their own experiences, and as more pieces were handed back and forth so began a defined and unique creative process for each piece or series of pieces.

What Dance for Peace is All About:

The proceeds from Dance for Peace will travel to Tanzania with Artists for World Peace when we return to Kibosho in July 2012 to build two maize-grinding machines. One, which we will fund through an interest-free loan to the Lukundane Co-op, will augment the piggery program established in 2011. The Co-op repaid the three-year loan that got the Peace Pig Club started in ten months. We will donate the other machine to the Good Hope Trust Orphanage Center to support Josephine Machuwa’s efforts to become self-sufficient. It will create an income stream and supply food for the Center.
Enjoy this glorious evening of work by eight dance companies that will perform in styles ranging from African to Native American, hip-hop, modern, ballet, flamenco, and Middle Eastern. The people who live in this AIDS-ravaged area of East Africa are working hard to build their families and maintain their communities, and your support is critical. Purchase your tickets online now, as seating is limited.

Tickets can be purchased on line, at our website: www.artistsforworldpeace.org

a Party GardenParty
Inspired by last year's successful Garden Party,  we invite you to celebrate Hartford, dance, possibility, and the space to move on Thursday, May 24th from 6-9pm - the perfect kick-off to the memorial day weekend.    In lieu of this month's  talking dance forum and works in progress showing, we hope this informal potluck gathering will provide the opportunity to share a few moments of laughter, nourishment, and ideas about the revitalization of our cultural community.  So, bring a dish, an openness to engage, and the potential for movement.
