Join us for the opening reception of a comic themed art show, curated by Brad Sheridan.
Comics
are playing a big role in art. Since we've been painting on cave walls,
even. And yet, most people view comics as either men in tights or some
kind of funny animal eating lasagna. The concept of this show is to take
your initial ideas of what comics are
(and what they could be), and
turn it on it's head.

As a special feature for this exhibit, an art talk will be held in the library on April 11 at 7 to 8:30 pm
on the history of landscape painting in America and why this particular
style of painting is so appealing to collectors and art buyers.

Hutchinson, the proprietor of Byrd's Books, Bethel's award-winning,
independent bookstore, located at 126 Greenwood Avenue across from P.T.
Barnum Square, is always there with something to sink your teeth into,
whether a good book or the community to which she is devoted. Now,
co-hosting with Bethel Arts, she's dedicated a wall space for local
artists to exhibit works that are meant to entice curiosity just like
the first chapter of an unopened book.
On Friday, April 13th, Byrd's Books will host the debut of Emerge, a new series of imaginative, dynamic, storytelling photographs by Bethel artist, Hannah Munroe.
At 6:30pm, an art opening and wine and cheese reception will be held, free and open to the public.

The Dirt Salon Presents “Wild HeART Experience”

The Dirt Salon marks the first full month of spring with a fashion and

Elisa Tenenbaum - Oil on Wheel Covers
Elisa
Tenenbaum’s wheel cover paintings combine a distinctive botanical oil
painting style with repurposed stainless steel wheel covers. Tenenbaum
says, “I started working with the wheel covers about eight years ago
when I had the desire to drastically change the format of my paintings.
The idea of re-purposing a found object appealed to me, economically and
environmentally, and I like the way the decorative quality of the metal
becomes an instant frame.” Born in Tennessee and raised in
Atlanta, Tenenbaum received her M.F.A. from the University of Hartford,
and remained in Connecticut working as an illustrator, fine artist and
professor of art at Central Connecticut State University.
Chinnyere McPherson - FASCHINN - Introduces her new Wild HeART collection.
The
Wild HeART collection tells a story of an individual who has a vibrant
soul and identifies as a free spirit. Going back to McPherson’s original
design roots, vibrant, saturated colors are at the forefront of this
collection with black and white as the foundation. Playing with texture
and movement, Wild HeART will bring an authentic, flirty and classic
vibe.
Alexia LaLande
Studio a-lala will be going back to its scientific illustration roots and making anatomy related sculptures.
Andre Rochester will spice up the night doing live painting.

The 7th International Photography Annual Exhibition-In-Print
An Award-winning Peer-juried Publication of Works of Contemporary Photography & Other Lens-Based Art
$2,000 in prizes, including a $1,200 first place award
INPHA is not a gallery exhibition. It does not require shipping works to Manifest. It is an award-winning non-profit hardcover annual publication with cash awards.
INPHA is open to a very broad range of lens-based and photographic submissions. This annual project is not just for 'photographers' and 'photography' but also for anyone working creatively in a visual art (or design) field with work that incorporates the lens or photographic process in some significant way, including manipulated and mixed processes. As with all Manifest projects, we are open to learning just what's being done that fits within this broad scope.
Each INPHA is an approximate three-year survey of imagery that rises above the ubiquity of images in our world today.
