Artworks by Bob Cuneo:
"12 Thought-Form Divinities
Astral images of Great Goddesses
and Primal Gods by a Wiccan iconographer"
 Never Ending Books
810 State Street New Haven, CT
Artist's Reception: Saturday April 4th, 7:30 PM.
Bob Cuneo, born in 1939, is a life-long resident of Connecticut, mostly as a citizen of New Haven. With an Art School BFA and MFA from Yale University, he was for 26 years a full-time faculty member at the University of Bridgeport, until 1989. After leaving that post, he moved away from the ideas of contemporary art and devoted most of his work to his long-time, solitary practice of neo-pagan Wicca. In this capacity, he was a staff-artist for the nature spirituality quarterly CIRCLE MAGAZINE (published 1984-2012), a professionally produced publication of Circle Sanctuary in Wisconsin. He has regularly had inked drawings and some color-covers in this magazine since 1985.
Painted in the Magic-Realist style, these pairs of six divine archetypes are manifested in radiant pigment colors. Their faces gaze out to the viewer with the clear eyes of frankness, kindness, and mystery, their costume garb telling the symbolism of their place and purpose in the universe, and their roles among the other gods, and in the lives of earthly men and women.

Bob Cuneo, also called by his Hermetic name “Fra Mercurius,” also has a web-page of his miniature allegory paintings visible on Hanneke Hollander's website at

Photography and Sculpture have many similarities in both creation and
vision.  Both disciplines place objects in contexts that hopefully broaden
the objects' meanings.  Both disciplines can investigate textures touched
and untouched.  In both of these practices, objects, textures and their
contexts are transformed by an artist's alchemy.

A Note From Our Gallery Owners:
We are very excited about this year's CPAPS Exhibition because of the variety and selection of this body of work and because our judge of selection and awards was M. Stephen Doherty, Editor of Plein Air Magazine, who chose over 90 works from all of the show submissions. Steve has a great eye and is well regarded in the art field. HFA has had a long relationship with him and we feel honored that he was able to take the time out of his busy schedule to jury the CPAPS show. Thank you so much, Steve.

We encourage all of you to come to our opening on Thursday, September 1st, see the show, meet the artists and partake in the awards ceremony. We look forward to seeing you!
