DIRECTOR'S CHOICE EXHIBITION

Aspects of Portraiture: Photographs from the Wadsworth Atheneum opens this Saturday, July 11! Organized by Director and CEO Susan Talbott, Aspects of Portraiture addresses the various approaches to photographic portraiture taken by artists, ranging from classical, to symbolic portraits, to photographs that tell stories. The selection of nearly 50 works examines social history, identity, and race, as well as nostalgia for the traditional portraits that once defined photography.

Making art in
the park.

Neighborhood kids have been making art, music and friends since 1990.

Real Art Ways offers free summertime art-making workshops in the park across the street. It’s a vibrant scene of fresh, creative energy when kids flock to Day Playground to make totems out of recyclables, build and bang their own drums, or learn how to “hoop” from the week’s guest artist.
Park Art runs weekdays in July and August, from 1-5 PM each afternoon.

Artist Lecture Series
A Conversation with Richard McKenzie,
President and Founder of Seven Bridges Foundation
Friday
July 17, 2015
, 2:00pm
Richard McKenzie founded Seven Bridges Foundation in 1995. An artist in his own right, as can be seen through the many sculptures on display both inside the galleries and on the grounds, has been collecting art for over 25 years.
He created the Foundation to help artists who have the potential but not the means to create art. With that in mind, his areas of interest are focused on paintings, glass, and indoor and outdoor sculpture.
