Reynolds Fine Art
is pleased to present

Horizons: New Work by
Robert Reynolds

Opening Reception: Friday,May 3, 5-8pm

Reynolds Fine Art is pleased to present new work by gallery owner and namesake, Robert Reynolds.
Stemming from numerous visits to the Netherlands, Reynolds new body of oil paintings and monoprints boasts vivid Dutch landscapes as its subject. The unique, tabletop flatness of this region sparked the artist's curiosity when he noticed a recurring, and often over looked, feature that was unavoidable in each vista: the horizon. Thus, Reynolds was prompted to investigate the idea of the horizon in history and how we experience it everyday, whether we realize it or not. Questions such as if this line acts as a joiner or a divider between heaven and earth motivated the artist and come through each work to evoke feelings of longing and wonder in the viewer. These works challenge the mundane concept of a horizon line to become a desire to know the unknowable and mystery of the distance.

This opening event will coincide with On9a collaborative open-house evening the first Friday of every month in a neighborhood famous for innovative art, food, music and experiences, New Haven's Historic 9th Square.

 About the Author:

Deb Davis was born and raised in MA. Her neighborhood was full of children with whom she played games, sponsored fund-raising circuses and plays, and from whom she learned a lot about life in other families. It was also in these years that she developed a love for reading and for the imaginative lands to which books took her. Lewis, Tolkien, and Grahame are a few of her favorite authors.

Cynthia Robinson who graduated from Miss Porter's School in 1981 is exhibiting her work in the Gilbert Gallery in Main dining hall for the month of May. Her website ishttp://www.ecoartalacarte.com/cynthia.html This spring, Cynthia was a resident artist at Porter's from April 15 to 19; she led students in creating several sculptures that were inspired by the Farmington River and by her mindfulness in regard to the environment. And she continued to invent her own constructions some of which are included in the current exhibition.
