Why do artists choose to paint or compose the scenes they do?  What characteristics make a place or placing special or unique? And which scenes foster a sense of authentic human attachment and belonging?

Our newest exhibition, A Sense of Place, draws upon artistic inspiration that relates to a deep sense of belonging or resonance to a scene or composition that is difficult to describe and is often unexpected.

This relationship to a special environment, (interior or exterior), can be often considered more spiritual, because there is more of a intuitive connection, rather than an emotional, cognitive, or material connection.
