About the exhibit:
“Remembered: Paintings by Justyna Dabrowski” depicts scenes from family photo albums that celebrate the artist’s Polish heritage. Using textiles, such as curtains and wall paper, Dabrowski constructs a tactile backdrop to the paintings, preserving memory and identity, and capturing lives lived and shared. Learn more about Justyna and the exhibit on our blog.
This show is the first of the Remembering & Repurposing exhibition series, which explores the preservation and recreation of memories and discarded materials into works of art from oil paintings to mixed media.
The exhibition is on display through January 8. For more information on 100 Pearl Street Gallery, visit LetsGoArts.org/Gallery. About the exhibit:

hello, world!
Curated by JR Uretsky
December 4, 2015 – March 2, 2016
Opening Reception: Friday, December 4, 5-8pm
Hello world!" is also used by computer hackers as a proof of concept that arbitrary code can be executed through an exploit where the system designers did not intend code to be executed…
Concept
hello, world!
is an exhibition that explores how a queer identity can function as a
clear projection of self while simultaneously resisting and reframing
normative definitions of identity. The complex, humorous and deeply
personal approaches each artist brings to the exhibition offers a visual
syntax of queer experiences. The title hello, world! reminds us that language is learned, tested, reframed and hopefully -- hacked.

Holiness and the Feminine Spirit – the Art of Janet McKenzie
November 15th —December 17th
Jesus of the People |
Contemporary American arist Janet McKenzie is known for sacred imagery that transcends time
and place. Her Jesus of the People was selected First Place winner of The National Catholic Re-
porter’s global competition by juror Sr. Wendy Beckett, the famed art historian and BBC person-
ality. It was revealed for the frst time on the Today Show in New York and generated enormous
worldwide interest and discussion. The controversial paintng challenges stereotypical thinking
by including two groups traditionally left out of iconic imagery of Jesus – people of color and
women. Her art is featured in Holiness and the Feminine Spirit – The Art of Janet McKenzie, which
won the 2010 First Place Award for Spirituality from the Catholic Press Association.

the historically grand and majestic VETS Memorial Auditorium, an amazing
multi-dimensional performance venue, and on the other side -
the gritty realism of the interstate highway lined with centuries-old
mill buildings and filled with the flurry of modern day
commuters. Contrasts abound and set the gallery's stage for ALRI's 1st

- Opposites.
