Alexander S. C. Rower is the president and founding director of the Calder Foundation and Calder's grandson. After Calder's death in 1976, Rower recognized the need for the scholarly management of the artist's legacy, and he began the Foundation in 1987 at a time when the concept of artist foundations was almost nonexistent. Since then, Rower has documented more than 22,000 works by Calder and established an extensive archive dedicated to all aspects of Calder's career, positioning the Calder Foundation at the forefront of legacy preservation.
Prepare
for an evening of musical contrasts and creative surprises as eight
Connecticut artists play songs by each other, rearranged in their own
signature styles!
Each of the eight
artists has been assigned one of the other artists. They have chosen a
song and will perform it as though it was their own. This means that a
folk artist, if assigned a hip-hop artist, will rearrange and perform a
song by the hip-hop artist in folk style... and so forth.
Your Master of Ceremonies will be Allison Holst-Grubbe, a musician and resident of the Parkville section of Hartford.

walk north up the beach toward nothing in particular, toward a grey
nothingness that is no destination at all since I cannot reach it...The
sky and the sea run together. The past and the present push into each
other.”
